The Ceremony & Craft Behind Rapé

How ancestral blends are prepared, the role of the kuripe, and respecting their cultural lineage.

The Ceremony & Craft Behind Rapé

More than a powder

Rapé is best understood not as a product but as a tradition — a whole family of finely ground botanical blends prepared across the Amazon, each carrying its own character and intention.

The name covers countless recipes. What they share is craft: careful grinding, sieving and balancing of plant and ash.

The makers and their blends

Each blend reflects the community that makes it and the plants of its region. That is why Tsunu, Cumaru and Mulungu are so distinct from one another in aroma and feel.

We work directly with preparers so their craft is recognised and their blends reach you exactly as intended.

Kuripe and tepi

Two traditional tools accompany rapé: the kuripe, a small self-application pipe, and the tepi, a longer pipe used to apply a blend to another person.

Both are part of the ritual context that has surrounded rapé for generations.

Approaching it with respect

We share rapé for its cultural and ritual significance, to adults only, and ask that it be approached with the respect the tradition deserves. We make no medical claims.
